About Department
The Chemical Engineering Department was established in (1974) in the College of Engineering at King Saud University to offer the Bachelor of science degree in chemical engineering. The Master of Science degree in chemical engineering was launched in 1981 followed by the Doctor of Philosophy degree in chemical engineering on 1997. The department currently has 30 faculty members: 12 Full Professors, 5 Associate Professors, 9 Assistant Professors and 4 Lecturers. Also, there are 6 Teaching and Research Assistants, and 3 Technicians. The department has well-equipped laboratories. Some of these laboratories enable the students to visualize the various chemical processes and how they are interrelated. Besides the student’s laboratories, the department contains faculty laboratories in which they conduct their own research. Also, the department has advanced computation facilities either through direct contact with university and college computers or the departmental personal computers facilities. The departmental computation laboratories are equipped with a number of design, simulation, and control packages that are used by the students to enhance the understanding of the various chemical processes.
To attain excellence and continuous improvement, the department was granted the ABET accreditation in 2010. To meet the market requirements, the department has established a masters program in polymer science and engineering 2008. To promote research and development, the department managed to establish SABIC center for Polymer research and ACWA chair for Water and Power research. Another research Chairs such as the Photo-catalysis and Phosphate and Minerals Processing are emerging.
Goals
The graduates of this program will have the ability to demonstrate:
· Knowledge in foundation chemistry and fundamentals of chemical engineering
· Knowledge of the discipline-related industrial practices and procedures
· Knowledge of contemporary issues related to the chemical engineering field
Mission
The department of chemical engineering strives to provide excellent education to students through an accredited academic program, serve the local community, contribute to the progress of the chemical engineering profession and conduct innovative research.
Vision
To be a pioneer in chemical engineering education and research, and in building a knowledge community.
Chairman Message
Dear Visitor:
Welcome to the website of the Department of Chemical Engineering, King Saud University. Whatever the purpose of your visit, I hope you will find useful information here to enjoy your visit.
The Department of Chemical Engineering was established in 1394 H / 1974 to offer a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical Engineering. The program has been nationally and internationally accredited as mentioned on the Accreditation page.
The Department of Chemical Engineering is committed to educating engineers who are capable of contributing to the development of their country and the realization of its ambitious Vision 2030.
The Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering program aims to train chemical engineers who are capable of excelling in various chemical engineering professions such as in the petrochemical, water desalination, food, pharmaceutical, environmental, energy, mining, and other industries, and who are able to transition easily into other non-traditional careers as desired or needed, while possessing the lifelong learning skills to keep pace with the demands of future jobs.
The Department of Chemical Engineering also offers three graduate programs: a Master of Science in Chemical Engineering (1401 AH / 1981 AD), a Master of Science in Polymer Engineering (1429 AH / 2008 AD), and a Doctor of Philosophy in Chemical Engineering (1401 AH / 1981 AD). For more information, visit the Academic Programs page.
The department has two types of laboratories: student laboratories for laboratory experiments related to undergraduate courses and research laboratories where faculty members, researchers, and graduate students in the department can conduct their research work. In addition, there are computer laboratories that serve students and researchers.
The Department of Chemical Engineering maintains close links with industry in the Kingdom. It hosts the SABIC Center for Polymer Research, the first research chair established at King Saud University and then developed into a research center. The department is also linked to the research community through the relationships of its faculty members and researchers with their counterparts in national and international universities through the various collaborative research programs supported by the University
I hope I have given you an encouraging introduction to continue browsing the Chemical Engineering Department website.
If you do not find the information you need, please do not hesitate to contact us through the Contact Us page. We will be happy to assist you further.
Thank you!

About Department
The Electrical Engineering Department is one of the earliest departments established in the Kingdom’s universities. The department was established in 1382H (1962).
The Electrical Engineering department is dedicated to providing quality education that prepares students for successful careers. Students graduating with a bachelor's degree will have the necessary technical, communication, and critical thinking skills as a basis for a successful, fulfilling and life-long career in electrical engineering.
The Department has recently put a great effort to update academic programs and teaching facilities as well. Several improvements in the undergraduate programs include: professional communications course and laboratory, an improved graduation project, courses in selected topics of current interest such as mobile communications, computer networks and information security are presently offered. Smart class rooms and meeting rooms, R & D laboratories, such as the Erickson lab, major laboratory software and hardware upgrading, such as the electrical power and the high voltage labs, are steps to upgrade the department facilities.
