Manufacturing Materials Lab
Manufacturing Materials Lab
This lab is designed in such a way that it provides the students the broad knowledge about manufacturing materials’ properties, behaviors and their recognition. The students in this lab conduct material testing (e.g. tensile test, hardness test) and metallurgical experiments. This lab is equipped with the following:
- Tensile and compression testing machines
- Optical microscopes
- Torsion testing machine
- Grinders and polishers for metallography
- Charpy impact tester
- Element detector from Oxford
- Sample sectioning machines/cutters
PRECISION SAWPrecision saw used to cut material from the stock to a desired size. |
AUTOMATICMOUNTING PRESSThe mounting used for convenience in handling and to protect the edges of the specimen. |
METALLURGICAL MICROSCOPE The microscope setup are used for microstructure characterization of materials. |
STRUERS DURASCAN The microhardness machine is used to measure subsurface microhardness of the of material. |
HARDNESS TESTING ZWICK/ROEL The hardness machine is used to measure the bulk hardness of the of material. |
TORSION TESTING This machine is used to conduct torsion test on mild steel or cast iron specimens to find out modulus of rigidity. |
IMPACT TESTER Charpy Impact Test is used to measure the impact strength of different steel specimens. |
TENSILE TEST ZWICK/ROEL Tensile test used for strength characterization of material and to know the mechanical properties of material. |
