     Laboratories and Risk Management Unit at the College of Engineering is considered one of the most important committees related to vice Deanship for Development and Quality. The unit is coordinate by a faculty member of the college according to an administrative decision issued by the Dean of the College. The unit consists of two main committees:

  • Occupational Safety Committee
  • Committee of Laboratory and Laboratory Supervisors

     Laboratories and Risk Management Unit seeks to protect all users and visitors of the college facilities, to spare them risks in any field, and to prevent loss of life and property as possible.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Coordination with departments regarding the safe collection and disposal of chemical waste.
  • Preparing a plan for facing crises and emergencies (emergency and evacuation) Building (3) College of Engineering.
  • Preparing an emergency plan for evacuation and identifying collaborators from all units and departments of the college...
  • Training the college's employees on how to act in the event of an emergency in the college. Through experiments with mock evacuation of the entire college building, (the first experiment performed on 25/3/1439 AH).
  • Make continuous tours of all facilities to ensure that there are no violations that affect the safety of the college building and its visitors.
  • Follow up on the observations received from the University's Security and Safety Department and ensure that violations and observations removed.
  • Preparing instruction panels with the numbers of the parties that must be contacted in the event of an emergency and installing them in collecting the parts of the college in clear and appropriate places.
  • Holding workshops in cooperation with the University's Risk Department and the University Safety and Security Department Holding a (theoretical and practical) workshop for all faculty and students to educate them and train them in practice on how to act in time of emergency and how to use different types of fire extinguishers.
  • Make a brochure showing emergency exits and how to act in emergencies.
  • Making boards showing emergency exits and assembly points outside the college and distributing them in all parts of the college.
  • Educating the college's employees about occupational safety precautions through banners and brochures, visiting students in lecture rooms, publishing on the college's website, and sending awareness messages on e-mail to the college's employees and students.
  • Providing some initial safety requirements for the college laboratories and laboratories.
