History of the Journal
King Saud University Journal was the first University periodical to appear in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Its appearance in the Year 1957 coincided with the inauguration of the University. At that time, it was an annual publication containing research work of faculty and teaching assistants, in addition to some public lectures delivered on various cultural occasions. It was a modest publication from a newly established institution. After the establishment of the majority of the colleges and the great rise in the number of faculty, the individual colleges began to issue their own journals. In this respect, the College of Arts was the first college to publish its own journal, the Bulletin of the College of Arts in 1970, followed by the Colleges of Science, Administrative Sciences (formerly College of Commerce), Agriculture, Engineering and Education.
"The Journal of Engineering Sciences", issued by the College of Engineering, was first published as biannual journal in the year 1975. This separate periodical continued to be issued by the College of Engineering until 1988.
Since 1989 all individual college journals reunified again under the name King Saud University Journal with one Editorial Board and one policy, but with specialized divisions, each with its own Division Editorial Board. Namely, it was deemed necessary in view of the vast diversity of specializations and the enormous rise in the numbers of publications by faculty members to better focus on the specializations rather than on the college names.
"The Journal of Engineering Sciences" is appearing since 1989 under the new name "King Saud University Journal (Engineering Sciences)". The Division Editorial Board (2012) is currently headed by Prof. Anis H . Fakeeha of the Chemical Engineering Department as Editor-in-Chief and includes in its membership: Prof. Mohamed El-Sayed Ali of the Mechanical Engineering Department, Prof. Abdulrahman M. Al-Hozaimy of the Civil Engineering Department and Prof. Saad M. Al-Ghuwainem of the Electrical Engineering Department.
King Saud University Journal [Engineering Sciences] appears regularly as a biannual periodical and is devoted to publishing only high-quality original research contributions in the various fields and disciplines of Engineering Sciences after being subjected to peer refereeing outside the Editorial Board. When need arises, e.g. on special occasions, the Journal can publish special issues. The latest special issue published was in the Year 1999 on the occasion of the hundredth anniversary of the National Day of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
The Editorial Board of King Saud University Journal [Engineering Sciences], in an effort to cope with the latest developments in the areas of scientific publishing and information technology, recently introduced a number of editorial steps, which aim at speeding up the process of refereeing and decision making regarding the acceptance of submitted articles.
The Editorial Board would like to express deep thanks to the faculty members and researchers for their trust in the Journal, as manifested by the large volume of their scientific contributions published in the Journal. The Editorial Board welcomes any constructive suggestions and looks forward to receiving further scientific contributions. Please address any inquiries to the Editor-in-Chief, or to one of the members of the Editorial Board or to the secretary of the Journal.
The Editorial Board is grateful to reputed authorities in respective fields of Engineering Sciences all over the world for their cordial cooperation in our efforts to maintain the high standard of the periodical.
