Students Guidance and Counseling Committee

The Committee Objective:

This committee pursues to guide and direct students and assist them in knowing the department, its programs and fields, and in solving problems and overcoming the obstacles they face during their study of these programs in order to improve their academic outcomes.

The Main Programs and Tasks of the Committee

  • Assistance in psychological guidance and awareness for students, and referral of cases that cannot be handled in the department to the student counseling and guidance unit at the college, and they are referred to the counseling center in the Deanship of Students Affairs.
  • Assigning academic advisors for students from the faculty members and registering them in the system for academic advising
  • Sorting the names of students who have academic issues and sending them to the academic advisors assigned to those students, urging them to meet with them and write relevant reports (Form 1) about them.
  • Sending periodic emails to urge colleagues in the department (academic advisors) to meet with their assigned students in the academic portal (Edugate) and prepare their specific reports (Form 2).
  • Monitoring students who have exceeded 25% of absence in the courses they are studying and preparing their relevant reports (Form 3).
  • Monitoring students who obtained less than 40% in the first midterm exam and preparing their specific reports (Form 4).
  • Following up (guiding and advising) graduate students.
  • Collaborating with the student activities and clubs committee to organize various events that benefit students.
  • Assisting students in how to prepare a CV by conducting workshops and helpful courses.
  • Guiding students and advising them on practical training and job opportunities available after graduation.

Mechanism of the Committee’s Work:

1- Preparing the student guidance and counseling plan for the department.

2- Holding regular meetings with committee members to schedule tasks and follow up on the work plan.
